We are Women of Influence in the West Valley and the World
SIVOS, in collaboration with Credit Union West, a non-profit credit union in the West Valley, and the District Four Rotary Foundation, awarded three Vo-Tech Collaboration Scholarships at a luncheon held August 12 at the Sun City Country Club.

This is the third year the groups have collaborated to present $3000 scholarships to students attending vocational or technical schools.  Each organization contributes $1000 to each recipient.  Funds from SIVOS and Credit Union West are unrestricted, while funds from the Rotary Foundation are paid directly to the school for tuition and books.

This year's winners were all from Brookline College and are all studying in medical fields.  The recipients were welcomed at the breakfast and honored for their scholarship and achievement.

Charlene Ramirez:  Brookline College Medical Assistant Program.  Charlene is married to Miguel and they have two children.  While caring for her grandmother during cancer treatment, Charlene discovered her natural abilities in the medical field.  While finding ways to deal with her own dyslexia, Katy has found confidence in herself.  She plans to use the scholarship to help pay tuition and to purchase a computer for her studies.

Berenice Perez: Brookline College Patient Care Technician Program.  Berenice is single and wants to further her education to become a nurse.  Berenice’s GPA is 3.44 and she has made the President’s list and has perfect attendance.  The scholarship will supply much needed funds to cover tuition.

Kathleen “Katy” Neau:  Brookline College Medical Assistant/Front Office Program.    Katy is married and has a 5 year old and 2 year old twins.  Her ultimate goal is to earn a master’s degree in nursing.    Katy’s husband is also a student and an Iraq-Afghanistan disabled veteran.  Katy has a 4.0 GPA and will use her scholarship to cover tuition, uniforms, and other expenses.
