The Importance of Dance Studio Software

Saturday, December 31st, 2011

Running your own dance studio can make life seem hectic. There are appointments to schedule, meetings with parents and students, practice, uniforms to order, and recitals to schedule. You are in charge of keeping all of these things balanced. Without the organizational skills you will not be able to keep everything on track.
You have several different types of dancing classes that you offer; ballet, jazz, gymnastics, and ballroom dancing. There is a lot of paperwork to keep up with each one of the classes offered. You need to keep names and numbers of all the students in your class, the schedules of all the practices, not to mention the lesson plans you are teaching. As confusing as this can be you can purchase dance studio software to help you stay organized. This type of software is used from the smallest class to the largest studio and can help you keep organized.
You may have private lessons, group lessons, workshops, and parties that you need to keep track of. You could create a notebook for each class but after a while this system will not work and you will not be able to keep up.
Now there is a dance studio software that you can purchase now that offers everything you need all in one. It can keep track of your schedules, set reminders, and have students register and then sign in every time they come to class. You can place your lesson plans on the software and have your schedule all straightened out. The lesson plans can be accessed if you cannot make it to practice and a substitute is needed. They can print out the lessons and your class won’t miss anything. When you use a software program to help you stay organized you need to devote as much time as you can to it. If you don’t then you will not be using the software to its fullest potential.
The software must be compatible with the system you are currently using. If you can’t operate the system then why use it? The dance studio software can save you so much time and money that you have worked so hard to get.
Make sure that you place all your notes in the new software system. You want to make sure that everything is available at your fingertips. Creating a program on your own would be impossible because you wouldn’t be able to get all the fine details that you can find on a program designated for dance studio.

Learning Guitar – Overcoming Obstacles

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

The guitar is an instrument of wonders. Being able to play music of almost any genre, no wonder this instrument is one of the most popular instruments for any rising musician. For me, I love to play guitar and try and work out the chords for a song I just heard on the radio. Unfortunately it wasn’t always fun for me to sit down and play my guitar. Instead I had to deal with many frustrations while learning the guitar. I’d like to share some tricks that I learned in order to avoid frustration.
1). Have a structured course – Having a structured course, whether it comes in the form a teacher or book, is of the utmost importance because a lot of the frustration that I had stemmed from the lack of direction. The marvelous thing about the guitar is that there is an infinite amount of things that you can learn, whether it be a new chord or technique. But all this to a beginner is extremely daunting.
2). Establish Reasonable goals – Goals can make or break a beginning guitarist. If a guitarist sets goals that are to lofty, often they get frustrated by the difference of the progress they are making in comparison to where they feel they should be. On the other hand, having no goals can often leave you in disinterest, for you never get a real sense of accomplishment as you play the guitar. Personally I was of the latter group. Not having any goals made me give up on the guitar for a while in fact. The system I found that worked was to set three kinds of goals. First you have a long term goal, or where you want to be in a month or so. Then you set a goal based off of that, as to where you want to be in a week. The final goal is to determine where you want to be at the end of each day. This way, if you aren’t making your daily goals, you can adjust the long term goals to fit with the pace you are going.
3). Practice time – Having a set time each day to practice is hugely important when it comes to furthering your success with the guitar. When I first started learning, I would pick up the guitar for a lot one day, then not pick it up for days on end. This caused me to have to relearn a lot of techniques I spent the other day learning. This led to a lot of frustration. My advice is to set out thirty minutes a day as a minimum. These thirty minutes should be spent going over what you know to keep everything fresh in your head, and to avoid having to relearn everything later. Of course you can play more than thirty minutes, but keep that at a minimum.
The guitar is a wonderful instrument, but takes a ton of time and dedication to learn how to play well. Hopefully I have helped those out there who have just started learning the guitar, so they can avoid the problems I encountered numerous times.

Roland RG 1 Digital Piano Review

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

Roland RG 1 Review Most people seem to know Roland for the amazing synthesizers and gizmos that make outrageous claims, and actually deliver on those claims and then some more. There is no doubt that they have helped transform digital technology in music equipment and are a heavy weight in their sphere. Ask 100 top bands in different genres of music about the equipment they have used or are using and you’ll find Roland name-dropped plenty of times. Because of their presence in the music tech arena with more performance related instruments, their more traditional range of digital pianos can often be over looked. The Roland RG-1 Baby Grand digital piano fits into this category for sure. To draw comparisons with a similar product by another manufacturer we should have to look at the Yamaha CLP 265 Baby Grand digital piano. Yamaha are a very well known brand, particularly in digital pianos for the home. At the end of the day Yamaha and Roland are extremely both trusted brands so there is no point me saying that one is better than the other, it is all subjective. There is an argument that the Yamaha digital pianos mirror the touch and feel, and the sound of a real piano more accurately. Comparing the Roland RG1 to the Yamaha CLP 265 I would find it very hard to find a massive gap in terms of quality of sound or the touch and feel. You’d have to be a Grade 8 concert pianist to notice the difference, and once again it will come down to your own preference. In terms of features there is not a huge difference other than the RG1 has more sounds, and has 128-note polyphony as opposed to 64 on the CLP 265. Extra polyphony will come in very handy for those complex pieces you might play. The extra sounds, are probably not as important as the main reason you’ll buying either of these instruments is because of the piano sounds. One thing I should point out, both of these items are very heavy and when boxed are very difficult to handle. Do not ever handle the delivery on your own and make sure that the retailer asks you about your residence i.e. do you live in a flat? Which floor is it on? How wide are the staircases? If you’re tight for space at home or live in flat that has narrow staircases the Roland RG1 would be a better choice as it is slightly slimmer – however please make sure you check the dimensions and be realistic about whether you will be able to get the piano into your home, without major renovations and the hire of a crane. If you need some more details on how the specifications of the Roland RG-1 Digital Piano, I would always advise speaking to an official Roland Dealer of which there are a few in the UK. Umbrella Music is one such dealer.
